The Ducat in ye countries of the Dukes of Hanover, Zell, Wolfenbuttel & Sax Gotha Hess Cassel & Elector of Brandenburg {illeg} are valued at 3Guldens & 3 this Gulden is worth & some times at one ot twowch amout {sic} to 8.s 10d∟8. English At wch rate A At wch & sometimes they are valued at one or two Marien grosses more, a Marien gross being ye 24th part of of {sic}a Gulden. {illeg}At wch rates a Guinea will be worth 20s. 1d {illeg}& sometimes 20s. 3d∟810 or 20s. 3d {illeg} 6∟46 20s. 6d∟46.
In the same countries a Lewidor is valued at about 7 Gulde{illeg}ns or within one or two Marien Grosses over or under at wch ra that is at about {illeg}∟36 16.7d∟36 or there about at wch rate a Guinea is worth 20.s 9d∟3.
In At Hamborough the Ducat goes for two Dollers & about 8 or 9 sols lubs that is (or sols of Lubec) This Doller is three Marks lubs lubs & a Mark is 16 sols lubs so that this Doller is 48 sols lubs. But the Albert Doller wth ye Cross (wch after wearing is 48 sols lubs worth less then 4.s 6d) goes for 52 sols lubs & therefore the other Doller is worth less then 4s. 2d. The Marks & sols Lubs are there accounted double to ye Marks & sols Dans or of Denmark & the four Mark piece or crown of Denmark goes at Hamborough for two Marks lubs & by the assay of Several pieces is worth 2s 48d∟4. And therefor three Marks lubs are worth 4s. 0d∟6. This is the value of the common Habmborough Doller & two Dollers & nine sols lubs (the value of the Ducat) are 8.s 10d∟4. At wch rate a Guinea is worth 20.s0d.
At Dantzic gold is very scarce The Ducat is there valued at about 7 Guilders 12 Gross or two Bank Dollers wanting 4 Gross that is at about 8s. 10∟d09. there {illeg} The Banck doller beingwch is worth about 4s 6d & the {illeg} consistin {illeg} money & {illeg} consisting now of 3 Guilders 23 Gross & a Guilder consiting of 30 gGross. And at this rate a Guinea is worth {illeg}about 20s 19s. 11.
In Danemark the Ducat is worth 12 Marks Dans or three Slecht Dollers & the or {illeg} four Marck pieces that is 8. 1
At Geneva the Hungary - - - Lewidors at Geneva. In Spaine & Portugal the Natives in their recconings accounts reccon gold to silver as 16 to one, but the Merchants give 5, 6 or 8 pr cent more for silver then in that proportion.
In Italy I cannot yet learn
The coyns of Italy I cannot yet procure in sufficient number to learn the values of by Assay the the {illeg} several those monies species current among them & wth the proportions of gold to silver, but by the best judgement I can get make yetof their money, gold is thereseems to be there of about the same value as in France & Germany. [{illeg}For at Bulloign the Piastre of Spain or piece of 8 went lately for 4 lires & the Pistole of Spain for 15 lires. so that the Pistole iswas {illeg} Is . Newton there reccon̄ed worth 3 Piastres, wch amount to 16.s 4d, supposing the Piastre worth 4s. 6d. At wch rate a Guinea is worth 20s. 5d. And at Legorn Pistoles gold is sometimes valued at a higher rate b]
