By the Act of XVIII Car. II. cap. 5, it is enacted that the Coynage Duty shall be kept apart in ye Exchr. & no moneys leviable & payable by that Act {illeg}shall {illeg}be {illeg}applied or converted to any {illeg}use or uses whatsoever, other then to the defraying the Coynage of Gold & Silver & the encouragemt of bringing in of Gold & Silver into the Mint or Mints there t{illeg}o be coyned into the current coyns of this kingdom; nor shall any of the said moneys be issued out of the Exchequer, but by Order or Warrant of the Ld Tr. & Vnder Treasurer or Commrs of the Treasury for the time being to the Master & Wr of the Mint for the time being & mentioning that they are for the use & service aforesaid, to be kept in his Majts Office of Rece{illeg}ipt in the said Mint & issued out thence from time to time according to the manner & course of the said Mint — for paying the fees & salaries of the Officers of the said Mint & towards the providing maintaining & repairing of the Houses Offices & Buildings & other necessaries for assaying, melting down & coynin{illeg}g & for & towards the expence wast & charge of assaying melting down & coyningage & buying in gold & silver to coyin, & not otherwise. And this Act is not mentioned in the late Act ({illeg}Anno septimo Regis Georgij Regis,) for raising a summ not exceeding 500000li &c
Quære. Whether is the Coynage Duty {illeg}or any part thereof to be taxed 6d in the pound in the Exchequer by thise last Act mentioned new Act.
And the Coy{illeg}nage Duty is kept in the Exchequer till your Lordps Order be known about to them about this matter., Wherefore & will be soon wanted in a little timethe Mint for carring {sic} on the coynage. Wherefore I most humbly pray your Lordps Order about this matter it.
