To the Rt. Honble: the Lds: Comrs of &ct.
The humble peticon of the Officer of the 5. late Country Mints one behalfe of themselves & some others &ct.
Sheweth
That whereas yor Ldps were pleased to appoint & establish sallary's for persons belonging unto ye sd. Mints in ye Year 1696. And accordingly yor Petrs. haveing duely attended that service in their respective stacons untill next Michas last 98. and have since been employed untill this time in Exammg: their severall Mints accts. (wch is still a continued charge unto yor. Petrs.) and that their Charges were great in goeing up and down to their respective places, and continuance there above 2. years without any other recompence or allowance than their base sallary's only (wch were but small) and their charge and business farr greater than was supposed or expected: And that they have been pd. their sd. sallary's no farther than Midsr. last, And that ye sd. Countrey Mints Accots. are as yet not passed nor Audited, And yt yor Petrs. bonds given unto his Maty. for ye faithfull discharge of their respective trusts lyeing out agt. them untill ye sd. Accots. be compleatly finished.
Wherefore yor: Petrs. most humbly prayes yor Ld.ps would please to take their case into consideracon by ordering the paymt. of their Michmas sallary with such further allowances for their jorneys forwards and Backwards, and other extraordinary Expences &ct. as your Ld.ps shall think fit. And also that yor {illeg}Accots. may be speedily Audited, Whereupon yor Petrs. may have up their securities, so as they may be the better enabled to pay their debts contracted in the sd. service, and return unto their severall abodes.
