Having read to ye Lords Iustices ye enclosed Meml of Iohn Rotherham proposing a new Method of Coining; Their Excys. are pleased to refer to you ye Examination of that Matter I am &c.

Most Humbly Sheweth
That your Memorialist has for many years past Considered of ye many Inconveniecys which arise from ye present Current Coin of this Kingdom being Frequently counterfeited, and that it would very much Conduce to ye Honour and Interest of his Sacred Maty. and his Realms if in time to come Counterfeiting the coin were prevented.
That your Memorialist has by many ye{illeg}ars study and by much Expence in ye nature of mettals found out an effectual way to prevent ye Current Coin of this Kingdom being Counterfeited and by your Memorialist's method ye Gold and Silver Coins will be more durable than if Coined ye way now used, <495v> And it will be impossible to Lessen their Value by Liquids or any other means what ever without Demolishing ye whole Body.
And to ye End a Thing So Highly beneficial to ye King and Kingdom may not le lost yor Memorialist humbly proposes to give full satisfaction herein by words or in Writing and to Shew ye Experiment itself provided he may be first assured of imediate and reasonable terms of Benefit for such Discovery.
Therefore most humbly prays yor Excys would be pleased to referr ye Examination of ye matter herein before setforth to such Person or Persons as your Excys. shall think fit.
