To the Right Honble: The Lord High Treasurer of England

May it pleaseYor: Lordsp:

In obedience to yor: Lordps: Order to Vs of ye 18th: Inst. to Consider of that part of Her Majtes. Order in Councill (a Copy whereof [1]We received therewith) which relates to ye Continuing of ye Mint in ye same, and to report to yor: Lordp. what We think necessary to be done whereby ye same may be effectually put in execucon, We humbly represent to yor. Lordp.

That whereas by ye said Act of Parliamen{illeg}t ye Coine is to be of ye same Standard & value throughout the Vnited Kingdom & whereas also by ye Indenture of Her Majties Mint in England the Warden with ye Consent & agreement of ye General of the Her Majtis Mint in Scotland is com̄anded to make or cause to be made two Piles of English Weights one for Each Mint to be examined & mark'd in ye prsence of ye Officers of Her Majts. Mint in ye Tower (which Clause We conceive to have been Inserted upon an antient treaty between ye two Nations) made wth ye utmost exactness & examined & marked & one of them delivered for ye use of ye Mint in Scotland. {illeg}according to ye directions of ye said Indenture.

And whereas by ye same Inden{illeg}ture there are to be six Indented Trial Pieces of Gold & Six of Silver, four of them for England & two for Scotland We are humbly of opinion. That new Indented Trial Peices {sic} be made & delivered for ye Vses specify'd in ye said Indenture. And particularly that one Trial piece of Each metal be delivered to ye proper Officer who shall Covenant wth Her Majte: to make ye Monys in Scotland & one of Each to be kept either in ye Treasury of Scotland according to ye Indenture of by an Officer of that Mint who shall be appointed to examin, cheq & prove ye making of ye Monys there in Weight & Fineness before delivery as is practised in ye. Mint in England And we are further of Opinion that ye Money Coyned in both mints be of ye same sizes & stamps, wth some Letter or either mark set upon ye Scotch money to distinguish it from ye Money Coyned in England as was Lately practised in ye Country Mints.

And whereas by ye Act of Vnion ye Mint is to be continued in Scotland under ye same Rules as ye Mint in England, & the present Officers of that Mint continued subject to such regulations as Her Majtie: &c shall think fitt We are humbly of opinion that in order thereunto so much of ye Indenture of ye Mint in England as containes ye Rules for Coynage be transmitted to ye Mint in Scotland And for ye better puting {sic} ye saide Rules in practise the Officers of ye Mint in Scotland may send any of theire Mint to see & learn ye practise of ye Mint in ye Tower, & if they desire it an Officer of ye English Mint may be sent into Scotland to see ye saide Rules fully putt in execucon there. & if they shall want any uses Ingines Dyes Puncheons sets Weights for comon use or any thing else Necessary for Coynage they be prvided for them in ye {illeg}Tower   All wch is most humbly submitted to yor Lordps. great wisdom
