The Informacon of Richard Jones 4th. February 169
This Informt. saith that upon the 11th. of Ianuary last past he this Informt. did give upon oath before George Smith Es one of his Majtys Iustices of the peace for the County of Gloucester at the Genll Quarter Sessions there an Informacon agt. Willm Wintoar Gent and one Ioseph Millard and also agt. one Wm. Rogers and one Iohn Bacon who were two officers belonging to the Excise which Informacon was all partually {sic} true And this Informt. further saith that the said Mr. Wintour and Millard not hearing thereof as this Informt has heard and doth believe the said Millard did importune and desire this Informt. to come and work at a Certain Still house near Wintours Dwelling house where this Informt had workt for severall years at the still house and some others belonging to the said Wintour's in the Trade of Brandy Low Wines & Spirits and this Informt. further saith that upon Tuesd ye 17 of Ianuary last he this Informt. was actually imployd. in Destilling in the said Still house and that one Hoggs head of Spirritts was destilled that day and night and was concealed and carryed away without any duty being paid to the King or any accot. taken by any officer and that upon Fryday the 20th. of Ianuary las {sic} past one half hoggs head of Spirrits was destilled + concealed + carryed away without any duty being paid to the King or any accot. taken by any officer in the like mannr as aforesaid And this Informt. further saith that he had gave the said Informacon long before as he did to George Smith Esqr. at the sessions last holden for the County of Gloucester but the said Mr Wintour did formerly threaten this Informt saying yt if he did discover his Concealemts. he would shoot this Informt. and would certainly be his death or words to that effect
