East Rid: Com Ebor} Ss The Informaion of John Spencely of Cottingham in the county aforesaid taken upon oath this 6.th day of Ap:rll anno dni 1702.
Who saith, that he this Informt being about to sell a parcell of corn to one John Lindsey between Martinmas and Christmas last, he much suspected whether ye said John Lindsley was in a capacity to pay for it, when one Pheneas Stevenson replyed to this informant you not fear your money for that he ye said Lindsley could coyn money and said yt the said Lindsley had shewn to him ye said Stevenson money of his own making, and further told this Informt, that ye said Lindsley had not as yett gott ye true way of Edging ye money, but that in a little time he would be master of ye art of words to that Effect and this Informt further saith not,Capt. Jurat dic et anno supra dictam coram me} Edw:d Barnard ye mark of John Spenceley
The Informt daith that the above named Pheneas Stevenson did att the time aforesd say that there was another Coyner within a stones throw of that place and that there was a gang or a pack of them Jurat corame me The Mark of John Spenceley Edward Barnard
