Middx Westmr } Ss The Information of Ann Raymond of the Parish of St Giless in the fields in the County aforesd taken upon oath this 23 day of June anno Dom: 1702
Who upon her oath saith that Martha Tanner doth make it her com̄on practice to buy Counterfeit Mill'd money of one John Gall in St Thomas's street next door to ye sugar loafe and of one Thomas <1v> Smith of broad S.t Giles next to a Farriers shop and of one Sackery alias Sacrill at ye King and Queens heads in Shorts Gardens and of one Bentley in the Cole yard and further saith that the Sd Tanner doth buy quantitys of the money aforesd of ye persons aforesd allowing them half value of what it represents if it was lawfull and currant coyn of this Kingdome viz sixpence good money for one counterfeit Shilling or fifteen pence good for half a Crown of ye Sd counterfeit coyn, and so in proporion for greater quantitys, and this Informt further saith that the sister of ye Sd Martha Tanner (com̄only call'd bleere-eyed Bess) is privy to her sisters so buying and selling as aforesd and that she the Sd Bess doth also buy Counterfeit money on the acc:t aforesaid on the persons above named and further saith yt the said Tanner, Gall, Smith and his wife with severall others whose names this informant doth not well remember, do frequently meet in an evening at Mrs Manleys att the sun and Broom in broad St Giles's to buy and sell counterfeit money as aforesaid. capt et jurat an: et die sup:dict: corā me J: Stanley Ann her R Mark Raymond
