1 About a month before the triall of the monies in the Pix, his Majty or hisin Council appoints a day & place for that Triall & names (if he pleases) the Lords of the Council before whom it shall be tried & notice thereof is given sent in writing from the Council to the Lord Keeper & Lords Commrs of the Treasury & from the Treasury to the Officers of the Excheqr & Mint. The place of late has been in ye Vsher of the Exchequer's house.
3 And Vpon the day of the Tryall the Chancellour of the Excheqr provides a dinner for the Iury. The place has usually been at the Dogg Tavern in Palace Yard.
2 Andlso then The Chancellour of the Excheqr sends an Order in writing for the standard Troy weights & the Indented Tryall pieces of his Majts crown gold monies & standard silver monies kept in the Treasury of the Excheqr to be delivered upon the day of the Triall for the use of the Iury.
If ye Ducat of Venice whose value is set down in the Table be that Ducat wch goes now at Venice for 6 lires 4 sols de Piccoli the Lire of Venice will be 6d∟52. Th And there the the Hungary Ducat wch goes 2 sequin wch goes for 17 liresnow for 176 lires will be worth 8s 8d∟32 & the sequin of Venice wch goes for 17 lires will be worth 9s. 2d∟584, & the Pistole of Venice wch goes for 28 lires will be worth 15s 2d∟56.
By all wch Gold seems to be lower in Italy then in France

At Florence & Leghon the Ecu silver Ducat is worth {illeg}lires goes for 7 lires & is worth 65s 4d∟63 & therefore {illeg}the Lire ofis worth 9d∟23 And there Pistole goes for {illeg}20 lires or 15s. 4d.
At Genoa five the cCroisat worth goes for 7 lires & is worth 6s. 6d & therefore the Ecu lires of Genoa is worth {illeg}10d.
At Naples the Ducat is 10 Carlins & is worth {illeg} 3s 4∟43d, & therefore the Carlin of Naples is 4d∟043.
At Genoa the Croisat goes for 7 lires & is worth 6s 6d & therefore the Lire isof Genoa is 10 d & there the Pistole is valued at 17 lires that is 15s. 3d 4d.
At Florence & Legorn the silver Ducat goes for 7 lires & is worth 5s. 4∟63d & therefore the Lire of Florence is 9d∟23 And there & at Legorn the Pistole goes for 20 lires or 15s 4d
At Rome Naples the Ducat of silver goes for 10 carlins & is worth {illeg} 3s. 4∟43d [ {sic}& thefore the Carlin is worth 4d∟043. And there the Pistole goes for as I am informed ais valued at 4 Ducats, that is 15s. 4∟935d
At Rome the three Iulios make a is there& the Teston is worth 1s 6∟2d & there the {illeg} Pistole of Italy goes for 30 tne Testons or 15s 2d & the Spanish Pistole for 16 6d more. But the Ecu of Rome werethree Ecus are ten Testons, the Ecu I cannot yet procure to be assayed. Ten Testons make ten testons & a Iulio for 15s {illeg}8d.
So that gold seems to be lower in Italy then in France or Germany.
At Venice the Ducat goes for 6 lires & is worth 3s 6∟d42 And therefore the Lire of Venice is worth 6∟{illeg}52d. And there the Pistole goes for 28 lires or 15s 2d, the Sequin for 17 lires or 9s 2d & the Hungary Ducat for {illeg}16 lires or 8s 8d.
At Ancona in the Gulph of Venice the Hungary Ducat goes for 17 Iules or 8s 9∟4d, the Pistole of Ital Pistole of Italy for 30 Iules or 15s. 2d & the Spanish Pistole for 31 Iules or 15s 8d.
At Millain the Philip of Spain isgoes for 6 lires & ye Spanish Pisto Piece of 8 for {illeg}5 lires 17 sols so that ye Phip {sic} is {illeg}3 sols or 1d∟37 better then the Pistole Piece of 8 & therefor worth about 4s. 7d∟{illeg}37 & at Venice the Sequin is recconed worth two Philippos that is 9s 2{illeg}∟74
