Brief Observations concerning the Tryall of the moneys in the Pix.

1 By An order of hHer Maty &or Council appointinghaving appointinedg a day & place being appointed for Tryall of the Pix (It wch has usually been tried neare the star chambers)
2 The Lord Chancellour sends his Letter directed to the Master & Wardens of of {sic} the Company of Goldsmiths to return to him the names of an able Iury. of Goldsmiths.

2 3 His Lordp after the return of the names sends his Warrant by his Serjeant at Arms or his serjeants Deputy to warn the Iury to meet at the time & place appointed.

54 The Lords of the Counceil or such of them as her Maty pleases to appoint & are present, do meet at the said said time & place appointed between 9 & 10 in the morning & take their places., the Pixes being put on the Table before 9 in the morning & being opened & the moneys poured upon the table when they Lords are ready to sit down, or presently after.
{illeg}4 The Pix box is put on the Table at or before 9 in ye morning & opened why ye Lords are ready to sit down, the Officers of the Mint & Iury 6 wth the Excheqr Officers attending.

4 65 The Lord Chancellour calls to his Serjeant at Arms for his Warrant for summoning the Iury {illeg}& appoints the same to be delivered to the Remembrancers Deputy wh{illeg}o{illeg} attends there wth ye copy of ye Oath.

5 76 The Ld Chancellour causes the Oath to be administred &to the Iury.

6 87 By order of the Ld Treasurer the standard Troy weight & Indented trial pieces of the Gold & silver moneys kept in the Treasury are delivered for the use of the Iury., & the Ld Chancellour examinscompares the {illeg} tryall pieces {illeg} wth those in the custody of the Officers of the Mint

7 98 The Ld Chancellour gives the Iury in charge to make the tryalls of the said Gold & silver moneys by the said standards in weight & fineness according to ye Rules set down in the Indenture of the Mint wth the greatest care that may be, it being a business of a very publick concern.

8 109 His Lop if he pleases appoints the Iury when & where to attend him wth their Veredict after they have agreed upon the same & then departs wth the rest of ye Lords.

9 1110 When the Iury prsent their Veredict to his Lop, the Deputy Remembrancer attends to read it & then keep it {illeg} to be{illeg} entred in & enters it.


3 {illeg}{illeg} At the said time & place the Pixes are put on the Table before 9 in the morning the Officers of the Mint & Iury wth the E{illeg}xchequer Officers attend &ing the Pixes are put on ye Table before 9 in the morning And the Lds of ye Council [or such of them as her Maty pleases to appoint] doe meet between 9 & {illeg}10 & take their places & at the same time or immediately before ye Lds sit down the Pixes are opened {illeg}& the moneys are poured upon the Table.
