Her Majty or her Council to {illeg}pp{illeg} orders the making ofthat six one new standards of Crown {illeg}gold & six of one of sterling silver & the delivering be made & & each divided into six indented Trial pieces to be delivered [to the proper officers accord vizt four to the Officers in England & one to ye General of the Mint in Scotland] for th according to ye directions of the Indenture of the Mint her Majts directions.in the Tower & {illeg} {illeg}& to such otherfurther orders as shallmay be given.
The Ld Chanclellour sends his Letter to ye Wardens & Company of Goldsmiths to return him ye names of an able Iury to make the standards. The jury for this purpose has been of 12 or 45 persons.
The return of the names being made to his Lop, he {illeg}sends his Wart by his Serjeant at Arms or Serjeants Deputy to summon the Iury by their names to attend {illeg}his Lordp at the time appointed.
And when they attend, the Ld Chancellr calls to his Serjeant at Arms for his Warrt for summoning thiem & appoints the same to be delivered to ye Remembrancers Deputy who attends wth a copy of an Oath to be given ye Iury & the Oath being admistred the Ld {illeg} Chancellour gives the Iury in charge to make the said Trial piecesstandards with all the exactness imaginable & appoints & what inscription & mark to put upon the m pieces& what number to divide them into stamp {sic} & to indent & divide each into six equal parts according to their best endeavours & to inscribe & print them & appoints the time when & where to attend {illeg}of indented piecesthem with their Veredict under their hands, & wth the {illeg}said Standards. {illeg} indented trial pieces.
And the Ld Treasurer orders money for {illeg}buying gold {illeg}& silver to make the said standards.
When ye Iury present their veredict Iury under their Deputy Remembrancer attends to read it & perhaps keeps it when read, & the Lord Chancr receives ye standards indented Trialpieces
Which being done The Ld Chancr delivers {illeg}the sd standardsTrial pieces or orders {illeg} by himself or his Agent according to her Majts directions upon Recepts {sic} for ye same, & sends the Veredict & receipts {illeg}to ye proper Officers(expressing the weight of each to the Lord Treasurer or Commrs of ye Treasury to be entered in the Treary & kept standardTrial Piece)there {illeg} by the Deputy Remembrancer.

By the Indenture of the Mint One Trial piece of each metal is to be deliv into ye Deputy Chamberlains of the ExcheqrTreary to be kept by the Deputy Chamberlains of the Excheqrfor {illeg}trial of ye Pix, one to the Warden of the mint for tying {sic} the new moneys & bullion, one to ye Master & Wr for making the moneys, one to the Wardens of the company of goldsmiths for making & trying the plate, one into ye Treasury of {illeg}Scotland to try ye moneys & one to ye General & other Officers {illeg}of the Mint of in Scotland to make the money. But if theit may be ‡ < insertion from the bottom > ‡ considered whether it will not be more conformable to ye Act of Vnion that the moneys of both Mints shall {illeg} be henceforward be tried by in the sam {sic} manner that is by a jury {sic} {illeg} by a jury of Goldsmiths {illeg}before ye Q. & C{illeg}ouncil be a jury of G. by the standards of great Britain kept in the excheqr & that both the Trial pieces of each metal be delivered to the General & Officers of the Mint at Edinborou{illeg}gh, the one to be kept by the Warden of yt Mint for trying the new moneys & Bullion & moneys before delivery, the other to be kept of the Master & Worker of that Mint for making the moneys as is done in the Mint in the Tower.
NB. The standard of ☉ may weigh about 20 or 2{illeg}4 ounces of crown gold = 96 li & that of silver 6{illeg} 66 or 7{illeg}2 ounces of standard silver = 18. 12s, before it be cut even & divided into six pieces, &
This standard commixed of 22 carrets of fine gold {illeg} & 2 carrets 11oz 2dwt of fine silver & 12 dwt } of allay in the pound weight Troy of Englad made the day of 1702 great Brittain 19 Oct 20 Iun. 1707
