Iudge Rokebys Letter to Isaac Newton Esqr Warden of his majestys Mint

Taunton March 21 99

Sir

At my coming to this place last night I found yours of the 14 instant with the Information therein inclosed + the letter from the Mayor of Bristoll to you + this afternoon the major of Bath came to me + brought with him an Informtion sent to him by the Mayor of Bristoll upon which the major of Bath apprehended Boddily + sent him to the Gaol of this County where I found upon my Gaol Callender that he was Committed by the maior of Bath on suspicion of counterfeiting the Coyn of this Realme but the mayor of Bath tells me that this Io Bates who have the Information is removed from Bristol to stafford he supposes to give evidence there for the King. I have no evidence at all against Boddily in this County but it appears by Bates's Information that he can give evidence against him in Worcestershire therefore Io and all the persons concerned this matter inclosed herein to you and I purpose to leave Boddily in the Gaol here to be sent by Habeas Corpus to the next assizes for Worcestershire that so you may cause him to be prosecuted there if you think fitt and if you have Bates in your power to give evidence against him for if Bates be to be creditted there is great evidence against Boddily in Worcestershire and this is all I can do by Law to prevent Boddily escaping Iustice I am

Sir

your very humble servant

Tho Rokeby
