To the Right Honourable The Lord High Treasurer of Great Britain
May it please your Lordship
In obedience to your Lordships order of Reference of the 25th. March last. I have considered the annex'd petition of Gabriel L. Clerk one of the Engravers of the Mint, concerning his salary, & humbly represent that before his going beyond seas I was dissatisfied with his carriage. & gave him no leave to work in Forreign Mints. & that his Salary was interrupted in my Last years accounts by his absence abroad, & in my most humble opinion wants your Lordships order to revive it & continue it But if your Lordship pleases I will pay it upon your Lordships verbal order. & if the Auditor scruples the Account apply hereafter for a warrant
