Westmorld Ss The Information of Henry Smithson of Rash in Swaledale Taken before Richd Brathwait Esquire Octob.er 8.th 1702
Who saith that sometime last year he was in Company with Duke Robinson and John Park of Gunnerside in the County of York at the house of Mr Tippin at Kirkby Steven in the County of Westm.ord and that the Said Duke Robinson, John Park and this Informant went into a private Room, and there the said Robinson gave the Said Park Eight pounds of Counterfeit Money and halfe a Crown in the pound for uttering of it, and the Said Duke Robinson further Said that if things were kept private they might grow Rich by it - And he further saith upon his Oath, that last Monday he met with the said Duke Robinson in Kirkby Steven Street aforesaid, whereupon they two went into one Thomas Elliots Yard in the aforesaid Town, where the Said Duke Robinson desired the Said Informant to say nothing of what he knew of him, for that rather than it shud be known further, he would give him twenty pounds for concealing the same or words to that Effect Capt. jurat &ct. coram Richd Brathwait Hen: Smithson
